Topic: THE DECEPTIVE MAGNET OF INFIRMITY
Text: Psalm 34:17-20, Proverbs 17:22, Psalm 137:3, John 14:27, John 14:1, Isaiah 61:3

Listen to me very carefully. If you are involved in the ministry of deliverance, you will eventually begin to realise that various evil entities have various and varied appearances in the spirit realm. Sometimes when you address the spirit of poverty, what you see is an old man wearing rags, walking out of people. Sometimes when you address the spirit of failure, what you see is a bird with no wings and trying to fly, coming out of people.

Sometimes, when you address the spirit of infirmity, what you see is a strange deceptive creature with blood all over its body. There is a deceptive magnet of infirmity but it attracts infirmity to people.

Emotional trouble, hearts that are not at peace are magnets to dry up the bones. In the scripture from John, there are two things pointed out:
– the troubled heart.
– the spirit of fear.

It is not in vain that the Bible says God has not given us a spirit of fear. There is a spirit of heaviness that will come upon a man and he will feel heavy in his soul and his spirit.

PRAY: Every clever arrow of the enemy fired into my chest, backfire in the name of Jesus.

Now, listen very carefully. What we feel emotionally often becomes how we feel, physically. This is why too many christians are sick. What am I trying to tell you this morning? Diseases of the mind have a high capacity to produce the diseases of the body.

This is a very very important point you must note. When the mind, the heart and the spirit are burdened, they are not whole; because when sadness has occupied the mind and the spirit; Fear has occupied the mind, the soul and the Spirit; Worry has enveloped the mind, the soul and the spirit; the body can never be whole.

If you have had no preacher telling you this before, I am telling you now. You can jump from now till daybreak, but if there is that heaviness in your heart, you cannot be whole. The Lord said you must allow that heaviness to be removed by the garment of praise. It is a lamentable tragedy that healthy people are now becoming scarce. I will not be surprised if I go into the congregation and ask people to open their bags. Some people have their drugs in their bags that they swallow from time to time. Some people that are not even sick are swallowing drugs so that they will not be sick. It is a tragic situation indeed.

I have not asked you not to take tablets. They are doing their own work. Infact, if not for them, many people would not even be alive to accept Jesus. Even, we as a church do medical evangelism. So, we are not against doctors; they are our friends. But even the clever ones among the doctors would accept that there are certain things that are beyond medicine. It is a lamentable tragedy. A lot of people are sick. Hospitals are overwhelmed. Psychiatric hospitals are full. We cannot continue like this. This is why we are starting this kind of program.

So, all the prayers you have been praying today, are you getting divine immunity. Prevention they say, is better than cure. It is better to be careful than to be sorry. So, those are the prayers you are praying now. You do not need to feel sick before you pray them. You are banking the prayers. Doctors and scientific researchers have watched helplessly as diseases like hypertension, heart diseases, stroke, cancer, ulcers, skin disease, insanity, headaches are going on the rise and they cannot bring it down.

That is why the best selling medicines are paracetamol and aspirin; because they are pain killers. And most of the times, they just dull the pain, but the root is still there. It is an unfortunate time for this generation that there is too much of internalisation of boiling stress inside. The terrible hard facts are these:

– the mind and body are seriously linked. That is why the Bible says: a merry heart doeth good like medicine; but that broken heart, the sad one, the heavily burdened one, will dry the bones. So, your emotional state can determine your physical health.
– certain destructive emotions can release hormones into your physical body and trigger a host of infirmities. Each time you lose your temper, some hormones are released into your body that harm your body. It has been discovered by scientists that emotions are linked with various diseases. When a person is always getting depressed, sometimes that can be linked to developing of heart diseases, cancer, high blood pressure, anxiety and fear palpitation of the heart all kinds of things.

But the truth is that it is possible to be genuinely happy in this strange world. But inability to manage internal stress quickens death. A lot of people just develop heart problems, heart attacks because of anger and this is a serious situation. All these marital disagreements like beating the wife, the wife checking the phone to see whether the man is talking to strange women, marital stress and distress shorten women’s lives. The stronger the emotion, the more powerful the terrible result.

A sad, unhappy and discouraged mood will bring sickness into your body. A feeling that life is not worth living anymore will make you a desolate person, a sick person. When you get yourself to the level where thinking does not allow you to sleep, you are looking for trouble. When you get to a level where something is now affecting your concentration, you need to be very careful. Guilt and shame are also terrible anchors of trouble.

WHAT IS THE ANTIDOTE? WHAT DO WE DO?
1. Recognise the power of attitude. Your attitude is your mindset, your disposition, your mental state, your outlook, your posture.

That attitude can make or break you. It can heal or hurt you. It can make you friends, it can make you enemies. It can make you a success or a failure. There is power in attitude and so you can alter the totality of your life by your attitude. And that attitude will determine how far you will go in life, because if is that attitude that reveals the real you.

They say that the sun that hardens the clay, melts the candle. Listen beloveth: your attitude is more important than your circumstances. It is more important than what people are saying about you. It is more important than your education. It is more important than your money. Even more important than your appearances. Negative attitude has destroyed so many lives. When some people come across a blockage or a mountain, they go into negative attitude and that brings infirmity upon their lives.

A positive attitude will see everything coming to them as something that is a step to their promotion. A positive attitude will laugh in the face of the storm. A positive attitude will not allow anybody to spoil their happiness, because happiness is actually a choice. You can decide to be happy in whatever situation you find yourself. You may say “but my husband has left me.” And so? Is that why you want to kill yourself with sadness and sorrow? Is God your source? Or human beings?

If God is your source? Any human being can disappear, but God will still be God. Look at MFM now. Anybody may decide to leave. Any pastor may decide to leave. The only person who should not leave is Jesus Christ. And once Jesus Christ has not left, anybody can leave. But with Jesus in the boat, everything will be alright.

Negative attitude is a serious problem. When some people are faced with problems, they withdraw from people. They drink. They smoke. They worry until they are sick. They become insultive. They start trying drugs. They backslide. They stop coming to church. They exhibit violent anger. They will be looking for any Tom, Dick and Harry to sleep with, because someone disappointed them. It is a bad attitude.

Some go after beggarly powers. They become moody. Some of them abandon Bible study. They abandon quiet time. Some stop prayers completely because of what they are facing. Some cry and cry all day.

Some have pushed themselves to a level where they have to take sleeping tablets every day. Some begin to overeat because they are troubled. Some begin to break things in the house. Some begin to fight their spouses. Some may even decide that they want to die. Some drive recklessly because they are not happy. Some become so bitter, whereas our disposition that can give us health and not allow infirmity to raid us anyhow is the disposition of Paul and Silas in that prison.

It was God that asked them to go to that place to minister. And they had only converted one person before they were captured. And the Bible says they were beaten throughly and then were dragged on the floor. Then threw them into the innermost part of the jail. Listen beloveth, the natural person will say “ahn ahn. God, you asked us to come here. You are not sleeping and you allowed them to do this to us. There is no use.” Paul and Silas should have been saying “I am not preaching again when I am out of here. God has disappointed me”. But the Bible says that at midnight, Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises to God.

And that became the game changing strategy. The apostles were beaten because of the Bible, but the Bible says they were rejoicing and even thanking those who were beating them. Just imagine. You are beating somebody and the person is saying ‘thank you so much for beating me for the sake of Jesus Christ’.

The same sun that melts the candle is the sun that hardens the clay. You are responsible for how you react to disappointments and whatever comes your way. It is positive attitude that makes you to persevere and not give up, when life gets tough. So, attitude is a great force that you must harness. Attitude is ten percent of what happens to you and ninety percent of how you react.

So, what happens to you is not as significant as what happens in you. Many of us need to visit the school of positive attitude. Change your attitude, if you do not want infirmity to be raiding your life anyhow. So this is the first point. I spent time on it because it is very key.

2. You must learn to communicate with your own heart. Voice aloud to your heart instead of bottling things up. Talk to yourself, talk to your heart like David did. He said “return to your resting place, o my soul”.

3. Replace every negative thinking with positive and Godly thinking, because your thoughts create your moods.

4. Key into the cleansing power of forgiveness. Jesus said we should pray: forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.

5. Be happy. A merry heart is a powerful medicine. Laughter too is a good medicine.

6. If you are married, do not seek to break it.

7. Never give up on prayer and praises.

With all these, this deceptive magnet of infirmity will not catch you.

1. (Lay your hands on anywhere you have any infirmity) Owners of evil load, I am not your candidate, carry your load, in the name of Jesus.
2. (Lay your hands on your head) Powers pressing down my head, die in the name of Jesus.
3. Stubborn infirmities inside my blood, die in the name of Jesus.
4. My Father, I thank you because it is written that oppression shall be far from me. I decree, every arrow of oppression should backfire, backfire, backfire, in the name of Jesus.
5. Father I thank you, because it is written that there is no enchantment against Jacob. Every witchcraft enchantment against my health, against my life, hear the word of the Lord, backfire! Backfire! Backfire, in the name of Jesus! (A sevenfold amen).
6. Strangers in my health, you are liars, die in the name of Jesus.

[After Message]
1. Sing: I plead the blood, the blood of Jesus; I plead the blood, the blood of Jesus.
2. Any power that has vowed to poison me this year, you shall not succeed, in the name of Jesus.
3. Witchcraft agents in schools, assigned to initiate children, you will not succeed, in the name of Jesus.
4. Anything buried to cage me, die in the name of Jesus.
(Anoint your head, chest, legs and anywhere you have any infirmity).
7. Anointing that breaks the yoke, overshadow my life now, in the name of Jesus.
